ACME: Mastering the Responsive Art of Minimalism

The third installment of our five-part video series recorded during Big Ears 2017 features the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), which breaks down the art of paying homage to Charlemagne Palestine’s minimalistic style. Click here for our exclusive interview with the ensemble, whose performances have been described by the The New York Times as “vital,” “brilliant,” and “electrifying.” They returned to the festival to play Jóhann Jóhannsson’s Drone Mass and accompany Blonde Redhead as they performed their 2004 album Misery is a Butterfly — two truly exceptional collaborations.
